Under the auspices of the Dean Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Kherfa and the sponsorship of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid bin Ghoneim research chair of "prophetic medicine, developing & manufacturing natural products" held a lecture on :Herbal Medicine; Facts and Meth’s at the University auditorium which was presented by Dr. Maged Saad on Tues 12/11/2013.
The lecture where attended by a numbers of academic staff and students as well as visitors from outside, however herbal Medicine is one of the heritage of nations. It depends on the local herbs to provide material used for treatment of various diseases. The information regarding the uses of these Herbs were accumulated through centuries and transferred through generations via herbalists. In most cases, treatment was connected to religious people and that resulted in a mix between facts and myths. Nowadays, modern science is struggling to find a scientific prove for the use of such herbs and exclude the ineffective ones. Our Nation was gifted by “Prophetic medicine” which does not need any prove based on our firm believed that it is Good revelation. However, our effort must concentered on providing there herbs in easy to use modern Pharmaceutical forms.
The lecture was in the continuation of the activities of the development and quality unit of the college headed by Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Qahtani in the first semester of the academic year 1434 / 1435 AH
