The unit of taxonomy of plants and herbariums performs an important function in the study of plants; It provides an easy way to distinguish and compare many different types of plants or the many images of one particular species so that the unit becomes a valuable record of plant life.
The Plant and Herbarium Classification Unit, which was established in the College of Pharmacy at Al-Kharj University, is considered the first of its kind in the city of Al-Kharj concerned with the classification of plants, and it is the place where students and researchers go for the purposes of scientific research on medicinal, aromatic and poisonous plants.
One of the unit's objectives is to create an information repository and a center for sensing endangered plants and to make recommendations to the concerned authorities. In addition to making publications and brochures on the plants of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and cooperating with international, regional and local herbaria to enrich scientific research.
