About the unit
Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University is a leading university with multiple academic and research interests. And based on the goals of establishing the university to work on enriching scientific research, encouraging innovations and inventions, contributing to the development of pharmaceutical industries and solving prevailing health problems through distinguished basic and applied research, and serving the community through its highly qualified cadres in various fields and specializations, a research unit was established in The College of Pharmacy to play a leading role in enriching scientific research at the university, and to be the first research center in the university, with the care and follow-up of His Excellency the Rector of the University and the continuous support of His Excellency the Dean of the College of Pharmacy.
The research unit includes a distinguished scientific environment suitable for the novice and experienced researcher, which is represented in an integrated infrastructure and laboratories equipped with modern equipment and support services with a high degree of efficiency in addition to offices and conference rooms. The unit is managed by a tight and flexible administrative and technical system through a supreme administrative committee and a high executive cadre Qualification.

The Research Unit aspires to be a pioneering and distinguished center at the local and regional levels in the various fields of pharmacy, and to contribute effectively to enriching scientific research in the Kingdom and keeping abreast of the latest findings of modern sciences, in addition to engaging in community service by finding scientific solutions to its problems related to the unit’s specialization and supporting Outstanding scientific competencies.

Unit objectives
The unit aims to provide pharmacy services by adopting scientific research and making it a natural twin of the teaching mission at the university by encouraging organized research programs, developing the skills of researchers, adopting postgraduate studies and providing the necessary facilities for that, and for the unit to be the nucleus of a distinguished scientific edifice through which support, pharmaceutical services and health care are provided to the citizen And the resident, and the unit contributes an effective role in applied and field research plans in meaningful cooperation with various academic departments and relevant government agencies to achieve a distinguished research renaissance through the following:
Upgrading the level of studies and research in the field of pharmacology, poisons and herbs by opening horizons of scientific and research cooperation with scientific centers inside and outside the university at the local and global levels.
Encourage faculty members, researchers and teaching assistants in various disciplines to conduct research and scientific studies and motivate them to achieve scientific progress in the fields of pharmaceutical research and the drug industry.
Encouraging and supporting the publication of scientific research results and organizing seminars, conferences, seminars, workshops and training programs
Advancing postgraduate studies in the health fields and coordinating with the concerned colleges in the university and relevant companies and institutions to establish graduate studies programs and develop the existing ones.
Cooperation and exchange of experience and knowledge with scientific bodies and institutions inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as providing advisory and analytical services in science and health problems at the national and international levels.

- Drawing up the general policy of the unit and approving the annual work plan
- Work to secure sources of financial support for the unit to enable it to achieve its objectives
- Studying the draft annual unit budget and submitting it to the competent authorities in the university for approval
- Discussing the annual report of the unit and submitting it to the competent authorities in the university
- Discuss the draft organizational structure of the unit and make any amendments that serve the objectives of the unit and achieve its goals
- Evaluating and approving scientific research projects and studies submitted to the unit and determining the financing mechanism for these projects, and ways to implement and evaluate them
- Implementation of research: One of the unit’s basic tasks is to conduct research and studies on various topics and issues related to the pharmaceutical field, whether these research and studies are proposed by the unit within its plans and interests, or what is proposed to it from abroad within the cooperation that takes place between it and many external institutions from within the Kingdom. And from outside, and the unit relies in the completion of these researches and studies on the expertise that is available to it, and it may seek the help of other expertise from inside or outside the college.
- Supervising and publishing research: The unit supervises and publishes research. This is for the researcher to present his study or research from the beginning, or after its completion. Requesting the aid of the unit and benefiting from its services and capabilities, and these services may include financing the research, helping to develop its plan and completing its statistical analyzes, then arbitrating and publishing it, and may be limited to assisting in carrying out the arbitration process and the subsequent procedures, and then publishing the research after that in publications
