Community service and continuing education committee organized lecture “Mitigation of Renal Carcinogenesis and 5-Fluorouracil induced toxicity in Wistar Rats" presented by Dr. Summya Rashid, Assistant Professor in the department of Pharmacology & Toxicology on 11th Nov, 2019 (Monday) in the College of Pharmacy (Girls Section) Al Kharj. Dr talked about chemopreventive efficacy of Chrysin against N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN) initiated and Fe-NTA induced renal cancer in wistar rats. Chrysin is a flavoniod and possesses diverse pharmacological activities as anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-cancer. Administration of chrysin suppressed the development of precancerous lesions via down regulation of cell proliferation through control of expression of key regulatory proteins, inflammatory mediators and triggered apoptosis. These results provide powerful evidence for the chemopreventive efficacy of CH against chemically induced renal carcinogenesis possibly by modulation of multiple molecular pathways.
By the end of the lecture Dr. Summya answered all the questions and gave an excellent talk.
