Breast cancer is the most common cancer in females. Every three minutes a woman is detected to have breast cancer. It accounts for about 22% of all new cancers in women. In Saudi Arabia, the number of new cases of cancer is 2741 including about 19.9% of breast cancer in women that is ranked first figures. Numbers between the United States and Saudi Arabia are not varying, but the difference is apparent in the age of the patient and the stage of the disease when it was discovered. In the Arab countries including Saudi Arabia, 50% of new breast cancer cases occur in women over the age of 52 years.
Dr Mohaib Ibrahaeem, from the Zahara Committee for prevention of Breast cancer, gave different measures to be taken in the prevention of breast cancer on Wednesday, 29/02/1440 H. She spoke about the causes, symptoms and different treatment strategies used in the prevention of the disease. She also explained how to periodically self-examine of the breast, Regular mammograms and Periodic breast examination by a health professional. Further, she gave in-depth treatment strategies of the breast cancer.
